FAQ database

Manufacturing & materials

What is a flight case made of?

Panels with the tough Hexagon surface, aluminium profiles and metal corners. The hardware (latches, handles) is genuine Adam Hall and Penn Elcom.

What is the Hexagon surface?

A tough panel with a hexagonal texture — strong, relatively light and easy to clean. The standard for professional flight cases.

What hardware do you use?

Proven brands Adam Hall and Penn Elcom: butterfly latches (lockable too), recessed handles, metal corners and edges.

What castors does a wheeled case have?

Braked Blickle 100 mm as standard — quiet, reliable rolling. For heavy cases we specify higher-capacity castors.

Where are the cases made?

In the Czech Republic. We deliver across Czechia and the European Union.

How tough is a custom case?

The construction is built for repeated transport: aluminium edges and metal corners take the hits, the surface resists abrasion.

Is the case water- and dust-resistant?

We adapt the build to the environment — state sealing and protection requirements in your inquiry and we’ll design a suitable solution.

What is a flight case’s lifespan?

With normal care, years of daily use. The hardware is also replaceable, so the case can be kept in shape over time.

What’s the difference between a flight case and a regular trunk?

A flight case is built for repeated professional transport: rigid construction with aluminium profiles, metal corners, quality hardware and an interior shaped to the contents. A regular trunk protects only partially and wears out after a few trips.

How much load can a case take?

Depending on construction and hardware, typically tens to hundreds of kilograms. We size the load capacity to the contents — state your equipment’s weight in the inquiry.

How much does a flight case weigh?

Depends on dimensions and equipment. We design the construction so the case adds no unnecessary weight — for carry trunks we choose a lighter build, for wheeled cases toughness is the priority.

What panel thicknesses do you use?

Typically 7–9 mm with the Hexagon surface; depending on stress and case size we use other build-ups too. We propose the thickness to match the purpose.

Can you build cases for extreme conditions?

Yes — reinforced construction, sealing, tougher hardware and special surfaces. Describe the environment (construction site, outdoor events, industry) and we’ll propose the build.

Do you use plywood with surfaces other than Hexagon?

The standard is Hexagon (tough and easy to clean); other surfaces and colours are possible on request — state it in the inquiry.

Design & dimensions

How should I provide dimensions?

Just the dimensions of the equipment you want to transport (w × h × d), or the outer limit (e.g. doorway, van). We design the rest.

I don’t know the exact dimensions — is that a problem?

Not at all. Send approximate figures, photos or a spec sheet — we fine-tune the dimensions together before production.

What is the 3D designer on the website?

An online configurator: choose the case type, dimensions, colour and equipment (drawers, compartments, castors…) and send the design straight as an inquiry.

Can you make an atypical shape or dimension?

Yes. We build to order — atypical dimensions and shapes are routine briefs.

How big a case can you build?

From small accessory trunks to large wheeled cases. We’ll discuss specific limits with your inquiry.

Does the design account for foam thickness?

Yes, we design interior dimensions with an allowance for foam inserts and padding so the equipment fits exactly.

Can I send photos or a spec sheet?

Absolutely — photos, a drawing or a product link speed up the design significantly.

Do you build series of identical cases?

Yes, for touring, equipment rental and industry we build unified series including marking.

How long does the design take?

We typically prepare a design with a quote within a few working days of receiving your materials (dimensions, requirements, photos).

Can I have the design adjusted?

Of course — we fine-tune the design together until it fits. Production starts only after your approval.

What if my van only takes a certain height?

State the outer limit (door height, load bed) and we design the case to fit — castors included.

Can you design a case for several devices at once?

Yes — one case with compartments/drawers for the whole set, or a set of cases that fit together logically (e.g. for touring).

Can you keep the case within airline weight limits?

We account for airline weight limits in the design and propose a lighter build and dimensions within limits — state it in the inquiry.

Interior equipment

What are custom foam inserts?

Foam CNC-cut exactly to the shape of your equipment — every instrument, tool or part has a defined place and doesn’t move.

What drawer slides do you use?

Full-extension slides with locking — the drawer pulls out fully and won’t close on its own on a slope.

Can the case have shelves and dividers?

Yes — fixed, removable or adjustable. We design the layout around the contents.

How do you handle cable organisation?

Grommets, separate compartments and cable spaces per the design — cabling doesn’t tangle with the equipment.

Can drawers and compartments be combined?

Yes, we routinely combine drawers below and compartments above — try it in the 3D designer too.

Do you build cases with a slide-out worktop?

Yes — workstation cases with a slide-out worktop and protected space for equipment (a mobile control room).

How do you protect displays and screens?

With soft-lined compartments cut exactly to size, with no contact with hard parts of the case.

Can the interior layout be changed later?

Partially yes — depends on the construction. A foam insert can be re-cut to match new equipment.

What foam do you use for inserts?

Professional PE/PU foams of various densities — firmer for load-bearing parts, softer where they touch sensitive surfaces. We choose the combination by the contents.

Can the insert be changed later if I swap equipment?

Yes — foam inserts are replaceable. Send the new equipment’s dimensions and we’ll make a new insert for your existing case.

Can the insert be removable?

Yes, inserts can be removable as a whole (tray), so you can carry the equipment outside the case too.

How do you handle moisture protection inside?

As needed: lid sealing, space for desiccant bags or ventilation elements — describe your storage and transport conditions.

Do you do 19" rack rails?

Yes, we can build 19" rack rails into the case for audio and IT equipment — state the number of U in the inquiry.

Can the case have lighting or electrical fittings?

By agreement, yes — grommets, power strips, lighting or connection points to your brief.
